A bilingual booking site for a surf school in Morocco

KiteTripping is a surf, kitesurf and wingfoil school in Essaouira, Morocco, serving an international customer base that books before it arrives. We designed and built a bilingual English and French site with instant booking estimates, self-service content editing, and a full technical SEO and AEO foundation. It serves its homepage in about 75 milliseconds.

The brief

What they needed

KiteTripping teaches surfing, kitesurfing and wingfoiling on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. Almost every customer books from another country, most often France or the UK, and decides before they ever see the place in person. The website therefore has to do the job a shopfront would: answer questions, establish that the school is real and well run, and make the price clear enough that someone commits.

They needed the site to work in English and French without maintaining two separate websites, to show prices for a genuinely complicated set of lessons, rentals, trips and multi-day packages, and to let the team publish their own content afterwards without coming back to a developer every time.

The approach

What we built, and why

01

One site, two languages, no duplicate maintenance

English lives at the root and French at /fr/, with each page written once and translated through a shared dictionary rather than copied into a parallel site. Search engines get correct hreflang signals in both directions, so the right language surfaces in the right market, and the team edits one set of content instead of two that quietly drift apart.

02

A pricing structure a visitor can actually follow

Lessons run at four durations, in private or group format, across three disciplines, alongside rentals, guided trips and multi-day packages. Presented as a raw price list, that is unreadable. We built it as structured pricing tables plus an instant estimate tool: a visitor picks what they want and sees a number immediately, in their own language and with correctly formatted currency, before deciding whether to enquire.

03

Built to be found, not just to exist

Structured data describing the business, its services and its prices. Answer-first content on the pages that matter, so an assistant asked about learning to kitesurf in Essaouira has something concrete to quote. Real review counts and ratings wired in from Google and Tripadvisor rather than typed in and left to go stale. Clean sitemaps, canonical URLs and semantic markup throughout.

04

Fast because of how it is built, not because of a plugin

The site is pre-rendered to static HTML and served from Cloudflare’s global edge network, so a visitor in Paris and a visitor in Sydney get the same speed. There is no database query on page load, no WordPress to patch, and no plugin that can break the site on update. Source photography was optimised down substantially before launch, since image weight is what actually slows most travel sites.

05

Handed over properly

Booking and contact forms run as serverless functions with no third-party form service in the middle. The blog is edited in the browser through a CMS, in either language. The client owns the repository, the hosting account and the domain, and has written documentation for all of it.

The outcome

Where it stands

  • The site is live at kitetripping.com in both languages, and the team publishes its own blog posts without developer involvement.
  • It serves its homepage in roughly 75 milliseconds from the UK, with a 70KB HTML document, on infrastructure that costs a fraction of typical managed hosting.
  • Enquiries arrive already qualified, because visitors see a price estimate before they ever fill in a form.
